Sincerity

Greg & Julie Your Marriage Moment

As a child growing up in my parent’s home, I can remember my father reciting the mantra, “Say what you mean and mean what you say.”  However, it is how we speak to each other that impacts the message that is being communicated.  Sincerity is a form of honesty and allows you to express your true feelings.

Reflection:

  1. Do we attempt to speak with sincerity to our spouse all the time or have we become agreeable to avoid confrontation or deeper communication?
  2. When we feel our spouse may not be sincere, do we make time to express how that lack of sincerity made us feel?
  3. Today, approach your spouse with a sincere heart and let him/her know you are sorry for those times when you have appeared insensitive or insincere.

  1. I will use this today! Communication is one of our biggest down falls! When you’re talking in circles and never truly have a productive conversation, it becomes very tiring!

    • Loretta,

It is one of the biggest downfall for most couples. We tend to bring in our marriage what we learned from our, respective, family of origin. You bring two different communication style into one home, and you try to live till death do you part – watch out! Don’t despair, the Strong Catholic Marriage Community will be up and running soon!
